The visit of Archbishop Jean Louis Brugues
On Friday, December 6, 2013, His Excellency, Archbishop Jean-Louis Brugues, director of the Vatican Apostolic Library and Archives, visited Stavropoleos Monastery. He was accompanied by the Romanian Ambassador to Vatican, His Excellency Bogdan Tataru-Cazaban. Mother Superior, stavrophore Mihaela Luchian, Father Justin Marchis, and the monastery community, welcomed the official delegation and showed them the church, the monastery collection and the library. The writer Horia Roman Patapievici and Ioan Dragan, director of the National Archives, were both present at the event in order to offer a more complex image of the Romanian medieval culture and the written documents which preserve and transmit it.
